Mary Anne Gargus, 91, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama, she met and married her husband, Ray Gargus, and moved to Huntsville. Although employed by Sears for a time, she was best known as preschool teacher of three-year-olds at First Christian Church Early Childhood Ministries, where she taught for over 30 years.

Her strong faith and good sense of humor sustained her throughout her life.

Mrs. Gargus was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Beverly Anne Gargus Stinson, son, Stephen Gregory Gargus DMD, sisters, Brenda Elkins and Marie Lankford, and beloved niece, Tina Herring.

Survivors include her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Jay and Susan Stinson; grandchildren, Emma Kimbrough (Bartlett), John Stinson (Chloe), Alexandra Marino (Brandon), and Katherine Stinson; great-grandchildren, Landers Anne, Benjamin and Ollie Kate Kimbrough, Ava Stinson, and Lewis and Lee Marino; sister, Joy Morrow; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2024, at Maple Hill Cemetery with Dr. David Freeman officiating.

The family would like to thank her many caregivers from Redstone Village, Regency Retirement Village, and especially Shannon, Ernest, Sam and Chaplain DJ of Hospice of North Alabama.
