Mary Ann Thomas Mary Ann Thomas passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at her home in Trinity, AL.

Born in Louisiana, Mary Ann graduated from Lake Charles High School. Later she met her husband Cyrus
Thomas who was stationed at Chennault Air Force Base while serving in the Air Force. They were
subsequently stationed in Michigan for 3 years where they started their family. Later they returned to
Louisiana where Mary Ann worked as a high school secretary until she and her husband once again
relocated, this time to Alabama where she then worked as a secretary for Central Baptist Church.

Mary Ann was a devout Christian and served as a children’s Sunday School teacher for over 40 years.
She loved caring for her African violets and was a talented seamstress. Mary Ann also loved the
outdoors, hiking, and bird-watching and had a great love for hummingbirds.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 64 years, Cyrus Thomas, her sons Clyde H. Thomas of Jennings,
LA and Kenneth H. Thomas (Pam) of Fort Payne, AL and one grandchild, Ian M. Thomas. Also included is
a host of extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Eston Dowies and mother, Violet Fisher Dowies and
brother, Terry Eston Dowies.

The Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11:00am at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel
with Dr. Rob Jackson and Dr. Rob Hatfield officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30am to 11:00am
prior to the service. Burial will be in Fischer Cemetery in Fort Payne, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
