Mary Ann Tapp, age 77, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020, at her home in Brownsville, TN. Funeral Services to honor her life will be held on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Somerville First United Methodist Church with Dr. Kenneth Culver and Rev. Brent Porterfield officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Somerville First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Somerville City Cemetery in Somerville, TN. Mary Ann was born on November 9, 1942, in Haywood County, to Frank and Annie Mae Joyner Simmons. She worked as a Real Estate Agent with Crye-Leike Real Estate in Memphis and was recognized by Crye-Leike Real Estate Services with their highest award, the Circle of Excellence and honorary title of Vice-President. Her license was held at Crye-Leike throughout her entire 30 year career in real estate. She was a lifetime member of the MultiMillion Dollar Club. She was a top producer with Crye-Leike throughout her career, and held the Top Producer title in her office throughout her time there. She had hundreds of friends in the real estate community and touched the lives of thousands of people during her career in real estate. Aside from being devoted to helping people through real estate, Mary Ann loved the simple things in life. She loved to be with her family and she loved to fish and she loved to dance. She had a special love for her nieces and nephews and was involved in all of their activities. They loved her and loved going to visit her at her house. She always made each of them feel special and supported them in all of their endeavors. She loved children and she had the best laugh of anyone of the planet. Mary Ann was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church in Brownsville, TN. She contributed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital annually for many years. She was an avid supporter of The Boy Scouts of Fayette County, and an avid Tiger fan and booster for the University of Memphis. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Tapp; her parents, Frank and Annie Mae Joyner Simmons; one brother, Bobby Simmons, and two nephews, Steve Simmons and Todd Simmons. She is survived by four brothers, Jerry Simmons (Patricia) of Brownsville, TN; David Simmons (Cheryl) Whiteville, TN; Charles Simmons (Beth) of Bartlett, TN, and John Simmons (Jane) of Brownsville, TN; four sisters, Betty Brooks of Little Rock, AR; Linda Taylor (Ralph) of Somerville, TN; Judy Bishop of Brownsville, TN, and Sarah Manscoe (Bill) of Memphis, TN, as well as nieces and nephews, Mark Simmons, Betsy Weaver, Bobbi Brooks Hall, Kathy Taylor Davis, Ross Bishop, Anna Bishop, Scott Simmons, Michael Simmons, Matthew Simmons, Jennifer Milligan, Elliott Simmons and Ryan Manscoe and numerous great nieces and nephews. The Family expresses thanks to Avalon Hospice and to her devoted caregivers, Margie Ware, Kathaleen Johnson, Pearl Taylor, and Cornelia Taylor for the excellent care she received.
