Mary Ann Roberson, age 92 of Haleyville, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at North Alabama Medical Center.
Mrs. Roberson was born on January 6, 1929 in Landersville, Alabama. Mary loved gardening. She loved her family and everyone loved her. Everyone knew her as Big Granny, which was a name given to her by her great grandson D.J.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 2:00pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville. Burial will follow at Winston Memorial Cemetery. Brother Dana Wallace will officiate.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Mary Alice Shirley of Haleyville, AL, and Maxine Austin of Memphis, TN; sister, Johnnye Pearl Hobbs of Ypsilanti, MI; brother, Benny Lanier of Boligee, AL; grandchildren, Robert (Stephanie) Terrell, Valencia Terrell, Timothy Austin, Michael Austin, Drake Austin, Roderick Austin, Ebony Austin, Sean Austin, Alfred Austin III, and Mary Dean (Robert Jr.) Hillman; and 26 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Shirley; son, Mack Shirley; mother, Flora Lanier; father, Fred Roberson; and sister, Mattie Faye (Nathaniel) Robinson.
