Mary Ann Maxwell, 86, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Tishomingo Community Living Center. Mrs. Maxwell was born September 20, 1927, and was a native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she met her husband, James Hafford Maxwell in 1943. In August of 1946, she moved to Iuka, and married Hafford on August 11, 1946. Mary Ann became an American citizen in 1960 at Oxford, MS, along with her English friends Edna and Eileen. She worked at Tishomingo Shoe Company for thirty-five years, and was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Tony Curtis. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include David Wooten, Matthew Hairrell, James Hairrell, Jeff Hairrell, Brad Maxwell, and Joey Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers include Harold Oliver, Gene Philbin, James Page, Kim Curtis, David Maxwell, and Chris Maxwell. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include two sons, Melvin Lee Maxwell (Terri) of Pensacola, FL, and Aaron Maxwell (Lola) of Savannah, TN; one daughter, Sharon Hairrell of Iuka; seven grandchildren, David Maxwell and Chris Maxwell, both of Pensacola, FL, Brad Maxwell of Iuka, Joey Maxwell of Bolivar, TN, and Matthew Hairrell, James Clinton Hairrell (Angela), and Jeff Hairrell (Brandy), all of Iuka; eleven great-grandchildren, Clint, Austin, Cole, Peyton, Lindsey, Alyssa, Lauren, Naomi, Ariana, Kayla, and Megan; and one great-great-grandchild, Tucker. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Anne Thompson of Canada; her nephews, Paul and Bruce; several cousins in Ireland and England; and many other special friends and neighbors in both the USA and abroad in Ireland and England. Memorial contributions may be made to Fifth Street Baptist Church.
