The funeral service for Mary Ann Brewer, age 89 of Ashland, will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Rev. Rusty Craig and Rev. Stephen Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church (South) Cemetery.
Ms. Brewer was a native of Clay County and a former resident of Birmingham, returning to Clay County in 2008. She was a graduate of Clay County High School and attended Auburn University. While living in Birmingham Ms. Brewer was employed as an accountant with the 4th Army Corps, U.S. Army Reserve.
She is survived by three nieces: Linda Williamson (Jimmy) of Ashland, Jacqueline Paul of Opelika and Joanne Rutland of Auburn; one nephew, Billy Brewer (Mary Lou) of Ashland and a large extended family.
Ms. Brewer was preceded in death by her parents: Vilas and Sara Mittice Brewer; her husband, W.C. Lloyd; one sister, Ruth Williamson; three brothers: Thurman, Bill and Walker Brewer and one niece, Charlotte Allen.
Pallbearers will be Joe Grogan, Runt Crawford, Jonas Williamson, Kevin Baughn, Jake Kilgore and Brian Brown.
The staff of the Clay County Nursing Home will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
