Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Alice Caldwell Fargason, age 94 of Cragford, were held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at Mellow Valley Baptist Church with Rev. James Owens and Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Fargason passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Clay County Nursing Home. A lifelong resident of Clay County, she graduated from Cragford High School and attended two years of Southern Union State Community College. She began her working career as a teacher at Bibb Graves, and then later worked at Russell Mills in Alexander City as a packer. She will always be remembered for her singing and for her love for her church. She loved to travel with her family and enjoyed her Clay County Nursing Home. She was a member of Mellow Valley Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons: Jimmy Fargason (Alice) and Donnie Fargason (Diane), both of Mellow Valley; Three grandchildren: Kristi Athey (Scott) of Marietta, GA, and Erik and Justin Fargason, both of Mellow Valley; three great-grandchildren: Owen Fargason, Madi Athey, and Anslee Athey; one special nephew, Deryl Roughton (Jo), and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Arthur Caldwell and Erin Pittard Caldwell; her husband, James Fargason; one granddaughter, Reana Ross; three sisters: Polly Flipin, Winniefred Burger, and Faye Caldwell; and two brothers: Junior Caldwell and Forrest Caldwell.
Active Pallbearers will be: Jeff Roughton, Scott Athey, Erik Fargason, Justin Fargason, Kyle Railey, and Buddy Childers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of the Clay County Nursing Home.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of arrangements.
