Marvin Junior Artis Marvin Junior Artis, age 74, of Union Grove, Alabama (Brock’s Chapel Community) passed away Saturday, December 9 at Huntsville Hospital. Marvin was born April 21, 1949 in Marshall County, Alabama to Gordon Lester Artis and Martha Morrow Artis.

Marvin was a graduate of Arab High School and a US Army veteran. He served his country in the Army from 1969 until 1971, during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of E5. During his service, Marvin earned awards for Meritorious Service along with ten additional medals including 3 purple hearts, 2 bronze stars with valor, and the combat infantryman badge. Marvin retired after a long career of over the road independent trucking. He later owned an excavation company. Marvin surrendered his heart and life to Jesus Christ in 2015. He was an active member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed the Christian fellowship and served faithfully on the Cemetery committee.

Marvin enjoyed his time with family and friends, riding his side by side, and cutting and bailing hay on the farm. He especially enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Madeline Campbell Artis; two sons and their wives, Ken and Holly Artis and Kevin and Erin Artis; grandchildren, Dylan Artis, Zachary Artis, Justin Artis, Mackenzie Artis and Danika Bybee; great grandchildren, Jackson, Kayden, and Carter; brothers, Billy Artis and Wade (Linda) Gatlin; sisters, Jean (Roger) Pearman, Joyce (Brent) Atkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Gordon Artis and his brother, Roger Artis.
Funeral services and visitation for Marvin will be at Pine Ridge Baptist Church, Union Grove, Alabama, Morgan County on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Visitation will be 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers will be: David Bagwell, Jon Copeland, Keith Hornbuckle, Mack McLemore, Steve Morrow, and Chris Pearman. Honorary pallbearers will be: Cole Baker, Wade Gatlin, and Kenny Parsons.
