Marvin Burgess passed away on December 8, 2022 in Huntsville Hospital.  He was the age of 89.  He was born in Huntsville, AL to Jesse James Burgess and Daisy Mae Burgess. He was also known as Smokey Burgess and Kingfisher.   He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lilly Catherine Burgess and one son, Marvin Glenn Burgess.  He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry W. Burgess and a daughter Brenda S. Aldridge.  He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jessica Sloan, Timothy G. Aldridge, Jennifer Peters, Matthew G. Burgess, Paul G. Burgess and Samantha E. Burgess; also 3 great grand-children, Sullivan Sloan, Adalynn Peters and Hudson Peters.  He served 3 ½ years in the National Guard and Army, serving two years in the Korean War.     He worked at General Motors, Fisher Body plant in Willow Springs, Ill for 16 years as a Tool and Die repairman.  Later became a Machinist in Alabama, Texas and Louisiana.  He retired in 1985, and lived out his days in Hartselle, AL.
