Funeral service for Marvelee Petree DeVaney, age 90, of Madison, will be Saturday, April 26, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wally Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. DeVaney, who died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation, was born April 16, 1924, in Franklin County, to Clarence Petree and Rena McKinney Petree. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil DeVaney, and one brother, Durrell Petree. Mrs. DeVaney was a member of Greenbrier Baptist Church.
She is survived by six daughters, Betty Taylor of Huntsville, Lennis Provence of Huntsville, Judy Tonge (Greg) of Madison, Pat LeCroix (Billy) of Decatur, Debra Pepper (Wade) of Athens, and Brenda Barbrey (Randy) of Decatur; one brother, Marcell Petree of Red Bay; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason Taylor, Greg Provence, Lance Sims, Grant Pepper, Jared Pepper, and Justin Hargett. Honorary pallbearer will be Chase Barbrey.
