Marvaline Smith

Marvaline Smith of New Market went to be with the Lord on Thursday. She was 81. She was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister and was devoted to her family and loved them very much.

Mrs. Smith was a Christian and had been part of the Church of God for all her life. She was currently a member of the Holiness Church of God in Fayetteville. She was known for being an exceptional cook. Everyone loved her banana pudding.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie & Thelma Brewer; her brothers, Gene Brewer and Jack Brewer.

Surviving family members include her husband of over 61 years, Billy Smiith; her children, Angie (Steve) Hardiman, B.G. (Denise) Smith, Sabrina Smith; her five grandsons: Seth (Shelby) Hardiman, Caleb (Bekah) Hardiman, Ryan (Callie) Hardiman, Ethan Smith, and Eli Smith; her seven great-grandchildren: Sophie, Silas, Whitt, Etta Jane, Amos, Riley, and Hattie Bea; her sister, Faye (Bobby) McCormick; her brothers: Marc (Shelia) Brewer and Rick (Theresa) Brewer. She is also survived by numerous niece, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11am until 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2pm at the funeral home with Pastor Sonny Moore officiating. Burial will be after the chapel service in Cochran Cemetery in New Market.

Marvaline will be remembered for her strong will, her love for the people around her, and for enjoying the life God gave her.
