Marva Carol Taylor Kent, 60, died Saturday, February 18, 2016 at the North Miss. Medical Center. Marva was born in Durant, Holmes County, Mississippi on September 12, 1956 to F. J. Taylor and Carolyn Kealhofer Clements. She graduated from Greenwood High School in l974 and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. Marva moved to Tupelo 25 years ago where she had a working career in hotel/motel management. Her tenures included the Executive Inn, Hampton Inn and Jamieson Inn. She met and made many friends in the hospitality industry. A Methodist, she attended St. Luke UMC in Tupelo for many years. Marva enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, bird watching and spending time with her family and friends. Her symbol of strength and encouragement in her life was a mustard seed, which was ever present with her. Her favorite scripture was Matthew 17:20-Jesus said unto them, “Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
Marva’s life celebration will be at 4 PM Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Rob Gill officiating. She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Clements and her two children, Taylor Glynn Kent and Emily Carolyn Kent all of Tupelo and a host of friends everywhere.
