Martin Davis – Obituary

Martin Davis passed away at Lexington Hospital on April 1, 2014. He was born November 15, 1920 to the late Asa and Myrtle Davis and lived his life in Darden, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grapel Shelby Davis and a grandson, Kevin Weatherford, a brother, Floyd (Ruby) Davis, and a sister, Ruth Davis Hill Carrington (Carmen). He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Davis Weatherford Hayes (Mike), a grandson, Alan Davis Weatherford (Megan), and two great grandchildren, Abby and Samuel Weatherford, and another great grandson on the way; two nephews, Robert (Linda) Hill and Larry (Brenda) Davis and numerous great nieces and nephews. His niece, Pattie Hill Duke, helped provide care for him for many years.
Besides his long time career and passion as a cattle farmer on his family farm, his first job was grading cotton at the Darden Gin. He served his country during WWII in an aircraft manufacturing plant in Marietta,GA. He and his wife owned and operated Grapel’s Shop in Parsons. He was a devout Christian and a member of Darden United Pentecostal Church where his visitation will be held, beginning Wednesday afternoon at 5 pm – 9 pm,Thursday, 11 am – 9 pm, and Friday 11 am until time of service. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 pm, Friday, April 4, 2014 at Darden Pentecostal Church with Bro. Ronnie Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in Darden Cemetery.
