Martha Smith Land, 79, of Windermere, FL, formerly of Ripley, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Sonata Windermere. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 PM Saturday evening at Garner Funeral Home in Ripley. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday at Macedonia Baptist Church with interment to follow in Ripley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Land was the licensed operator and manager of the Ripley Water and Wastewater Plant for 33 years. She was appointed by Governor Ned Ray McWherter as chairman of the Tennessee Water and Wastewater State Certification Licensing Board. She was the past chairman of the Lauderdale County Democratic Party. She was also a loyal and dedicated member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she served as clerk for 27 years and taught Sunday School for all ages.
The wife of Johnny Land, she is survived by a son Anthony Land of Windermere, FL.
