Martha Roberts Killian went to her Eternal Home in Heaven on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. She is survived by her husband of more than sixty years, Gerald W. Killian, and she is survived by two adult sons, Thomas Killian (Virginia) of Cartersville, Georgia, and Andrew Killian (Venita) of Duluth, Georgia. She is survived by five grandchildren, Nicholas (and Sarah) Killian, Bailey Killian, Emily Killian, Miles Killian, and Samuel Killian, and great grandson Parker Killian.
Martha was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1945 to P.W. Roberts and Clara Oline Cooper Roberts. The Roberts family settled in Valley Head, Alabama, where they welcomed the arrival of Martha’s baby brother, John Roberts (Dianne) now living in Deatsville, Alabama. They have 3 Grandchildren.
After high school, Martha attended Auburn University where she met her husband-to-be, Gerald. After his graduation, he accepted a position in Naperville, Illinois, with CECO Steel Products, Inc. During mid-career, and while raising their sons, Martha found time in the evening and early morning hours to study for college classes at University of Tennessee-Chattanooga to earn her Bachelor degree in Education. They have lived and worked in Chattanooga, Jacksonville, Indiana, and moved to Aiken, South Carolina in 1988. Gerald began work at Savannah River Site and Martha taught Special Education at the primary level in S.C. public and private schools.
Martha and Gerald have been active in Presbyterian churches in Aiken, and, since 2004 in First Presbyterian Church of Augusta. Martha was very active in church outreach to encourage church members and visitors in times of need. Along with her surviving family, Martha will be missed by their church family members and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Mathieu, Dr. Ken McHeard, and Dr. Michael Hearon officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service.
