Obituary of Martha "Betty" Underwood ArmstrongMartha Louise (Betty) Underwood Armstrong, age 97, passed away at home on March 27, 2025. A native of Etowah County, Betty relocated to Blount County in 1946 upon marriage. She attended Emma Samson High School and was a lifelong member of Dwight Baptist Church in Gadsden. She worked in the garment industry as a Quality Control Supervisor for 36 years before retiring from Kidz Dudz in Blountsville. She enjoyed Alabama Football and music from the Big Band era.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Huey E. Armstrong.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry B. Armstrong of Oneonta and Valerie (Allan) Reid of Hayden; four grandchildren,Steven (Christie) Sims of Panama City, FL, Bart (Jennifer) Blalock of Locust Fork, Andrea Leigh Hays of Hayden, Jeff (Morgan) Reid of Warrior; five great-grandchildren, Seth Hays, Lauralee Sims, Kannon Blalock, Brenna Hays Thomas and Khloe Blalock; one great-great-grandchild, Cooper Lee Thomas; nieces, Sandra Davidson Benefield, Clara Armstrong Snead, and Laura Armstrong Devens; nephews, Doug Davidson, and Larry K. Armstrong; bonus grandchildren, Sara Davis, Cassidy Blalock, Justin Thomas, and Javan Garner; several grand nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Jack and Peggy Green, Lawton Boren, and Faye Galloway.

Pallbearers will be Steven Sims, Bart Blalock, Jeff Reid, Justin Thomas, Seth Hays, and Matt Benefield. Special music by Javan Garner.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Forrest Cemetery. Bro. Zach Howard will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
