Martha Lax Casey, born April 26, 1948, in the town of Bolivar, Tennessee, was a cherished mother, sister, and grandmother, who left this world on November 2, 2024, in Memphis, Tennessee. Throughout her life, Martha’s spirit shone brightly, illuminating the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Martha’s professional journey began as a dedicated purchasing agent with Harman Automotive, where she worked diligently from 1978 until its closure. Her commitment to her role was evident, and she brought a sense of integrity and passion to all her endeavors.
Beyond her career, Martha found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a profound love for music, which was not just a hobby but a vital part of her existence. She flourished as a faithful supporter of the Youth Choir at Bolivar First Baptist Church. Additionally, she relished the camaraderie of friends and the thrill of playing golf, where laughter and good times flourished on the course. Martha’s love for music took her to Ridgecrest Music Camp in North Carolina, a fond memory where she nurtured her passion and made lasting friendships.
Martha is survived by her beloved daughters, Brandy McKinnie and Steve of Jackson, and Jessica Soares and Matt of Jackson. She was a devoted grandmother to Casey and Kyle McKinnie, Aston Martin, Jackson French, and Caley Soares, as well as a proud great-grandmother to Anita Martin. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and the memories they shared will forever be cherished.
She is also survived by her supportive siblings, including her sister, Betty Nerren Maples and Charles of Denmark, and her brother, Robby Lax and Janie of Henderson. The bond they shared was marked by love, laughter, and moments that will never be forgotten.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jackie F. Casey, whose absence she carried in her heart, and her dear parents, Robert Wardell Lax and Mary Suenell Keller Lax, who provided her with strength and guidance throughout her life.
