Martha Jo Dickens, 70, of Hazel Green, passed away on Friday morning while surrounded by her loving family after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

She was a member of the church of Christ and enjoyed working outside with her flowers.  She was also a gifted cook and enjoyed being in the kitchen .

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Doris Warden and her grandparents, Otis & Mattie Walker.

Surviving family members include her husband of 55 years, Delano Dickens;  Her daughter and son-in-law, Samantha & Earl Wootson;  Her son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Nena Dickens;   Her daughter & son-in-law, Tabitha & Stacy High.  Her grandchildren: Justin Wootson, Breanna Wootson, Zackery (Katelyn) Dickens, Ariana High, and Rylan High;  1 Great-granddaughter: Lily Wootson and her mother, Crystal Hardy.  Her sister, Debbie (Raymond) Edwards;  Her brothers: Larry (Linda) Warden, Mark (Dee) Warden, and Mack (Rita) Warden.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Monday at 11am at the funeral home with Bro. Alan Smith officiating.  Burial will follow and will be in Bevill’s Cemetery.

The family would like to thank their Encompass Hospice nurse, Amy, and their Encompass Home Health nurse, Risa for the loving care they provided.
