Martha J. Barbre age 85 of Athens, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Limestone Health Facility. Mrs. Barbre was born January 31, 1932 in Carter County, TN to Lawrence Gouge and Gladys Clark Gouge.
Services will be Tuesday, February 28, 2017 10:30 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Joe Teal officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Barbre was a member of West Highland Baptist Church where she served many years in the Nursery rocking babies. She also sang in the choir and was a Tupperware dealer for over 40 years.
Survived by her husband, Gene Barbre of Athens; two daughters, Ceri Barbre of Athens and Sandra Vastano and husband, Mike of Chattanooga, TN; two sons, Jeff Barbre and wife, Tina of Athens and Steve Barbre and wife Melisa of Hartselle, AL; grandchildren, Adam, Russ, Andrew Vastano, April Jones, Jamey Barbre, Alex and Nick Barbre; 8 great-grandsons; siblings, Betty Carr, Sara Schaag, Alan Gouge, Ron Gouge, Gary Gouge and Glen Gouge.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
