Martha Isabel  Stephens Eskew  Martha Isabel Stephens Eskew passed away peacefully on June 1, 2021 surrounded by her family at the age of 102 years and 8 months. She was born on September 30, 1918 in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late Hatton E. Stephens and Agnes McLeod Stephens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Eskew; daughter, Agnes Jeanette Eskew; sister, Mildred Maggard; and brothers, John Stephens, Jack M. Stephens. Mrs. Eskew graduated from Lynn Grove High School in Kentucky and attended Draughons Business School. She moved to Lebanon, Tennessee in 1937 where she met her future husband and was later married in 1939. She and her family moved to Winchester in 1949. As a member of the First United Methodist Church, she served in many capacities, including Sunday School Teacher, MYF activities, UMW Guild, and on the administrative board. She was also a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. In 1985 she was instrumental in the organization of the gift shop of the then Methodist Hospital and also supervised it for 19 years until her retirement. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Methodist Hospital. Mrs. Eskew was a member of the Franklin county Garden Club. Mrs. Eskew is survived by her daughter, Stephenie Swann of Decherd; son, Sam Hatton Eskew and wife, Pam of Estill Springs; grandsons, Stephen Swann and wife, Mary (Dixie) of Decherd, Jedd Swann and wife, Meredith of Decherd, Alex Eskew and wife, Jamie of Estill Springs; great-grandsons, Tyler Swann of Decherd, Bryant Swann and wife, Emily of Tullahoma; great-granddaughters, Ellie Eskew, Avery Eskew, both of Estill Springs; 3 month old, great-great-granddaughter, Harper Lynn Swann of Tullahoma; sister-in-law, Sue Stephens of Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at Moore-Cortner Funeral home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Ray Wilson, the chaplain of Amedisys Hospice, officiating. Interment will be held at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, great-grandsons, and family. Honorary pallbearers are, Coyle Clark, Brenda Goins, Darlene Williams, Gloria Doan, Melissa Caldwell, Glenda Eddings, and Janis Commers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all gifts in her memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the charity of your choice.
