Martha Hess, age 85, of Scottsboro, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
She will be missed by all who were touched by her smile, her kind spirit, and her selflessness.
Martha’s memory will be forever cherished by her son, Greg Hess; her daughter-in-law, Bently
Hess; and her grandchildren, Hunter Hess and Hatten Hess.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Era Barbee, and her sister, Ann Chambless.
Martha was born and raised in Scottsboro. She graduated from Jackson County High School in
1957. Martha worked many different jobs during her life, ultimately settling in at the Impact
Learning Center before retirement. Helping others gave Martha genuine joy. She was a devoted
mother and grandmother who never missed an opportunity to tell you about her family. She
loved music and dancing, time with her friends, and shopping for a bargain. She was an
excellent cook and was beloved by everyone lucky enough to taste one of her many treats.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Scottsboro
Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Impact
