Martha Elizabeth Ogletree Hays, age 89, of Cherokee passed away peacefully May 5, 2019. Family will receive friends at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee, Wednesday, May 8 from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery, Cherokee at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Chuck Bradford officiating.
Martha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed cooking, quilting, and singing. She was a lifelong member of the Harris Chapel Baptist Church and choir member. She was a kind, cheerful person who enjoyed serving the Lord and working in the church.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Emmit Edward Hays; daughters, Diana Hays Tompkins and Patti Hays Terry.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Lee Hays, and wife, Kathy; brother, Roy Ogletree, and wife Betty; sister, Mary Ann Harrison, and husband, J.T. and a host of loving relatives, and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Kindred Hospice, Tammy, Desiree, and Misty; North Mississippi Medical Center Home Health; Regina Bennett; and Angela McMahon and staff at Southern Magnolia.
Pallbearers will be Jason Harrison, Scott Harrison, Ricky Ogletree, Johnny Ogletree, Mark Tompkins, and Jeremy Thompkin
