Mrs. Martha Ann Helton Marlar, age 89 of Scottsboro, AL. passed away Monday, October 16, 2023 at her home. She was born June 17, 1934 to Ernest and Bertha Helton in Tishomingo County, Miss. Mrs. Marlar was the third child of this union. She was preceded in death by her siblings William E. Helton, Avah Ruth Helton Henson, and Paul Allen Helton. She married Ellison E. Marlar who preceded her in death as well as her daughter Rhonda E Marlar Gonzalez. She worked 17 years with Alacare Hospice as an aide. She worked from the Tennessee line to Tishomingo, Miss.
She is survived by her children, Robert E. Marlar, Ronald E. Marlar (Gail) and Richard E. Marlar (Stephanie); grandchildren, Miranda Thompson, Makala Marlar, Micah Robert Marlar, Sarah A. Seay, Samantha Harned, Katherine Marlar, Sydney Marlar and step grandson James Seay; sister, Elizabeth Jane Helton Hendrix; multiple great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Scottsboro Funeral Home with David Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.- 11 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Scottsboro Funeral Home.
