Martha Ann Beasley (Mott), aged 81, went home to the Lord surrounded by her family in her home at 6:37 AM on February 15, 2018. Born July 2, 1936 in Fulton, Mississippi, Martha was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, and friend.Martha never met a stranger; people gravitated to her all throughout her life, drawn to her kindness, her humble heart, and her gentle words. She inspired the best in those who loved her by the way she lived her life; genuine and honest, she was “the same in her parlor as she was on the public streets.”Martha grew up a sharecropper’s daughter in Wilson, Arkansas, and though her family often struggled, she always smiled when asked about her girlhood days. Instead of hardship, she spoke of love, laughter, and beautiful memories under a Southern sun. She married Buck in December of 1953, and together they built a life in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She worked at Leblanc Corp. for 30 years, retiring as a supervisor. She and Buck moved to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and she continued to invest her time in the lives of her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Martha loved good books, good coffee, and good conversations, and her southern cooking would feed your body and your soul at the same time. She didn’t know how to complain, and in her presence, you knew you were loved and heard. Nothing felt better than making her laugh.
