Funeral service for Martha Abercrombie Oldacre, 76, will be Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at New Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Cruise officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in New Canaan Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at New Canaan Baptist Church. Mrs. Oldacre will lie in state at the church on Sunday for one hour prior to the service.
Mrs.Oldacre died on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at her residence. She was born February 7, 1941, in Morgan County to Rubert Willard Abercrombie and Leo Clark Abercrombie. Martha Oldacre was a lifelong resident of the Union Hill Community. She was a faithful member of New Canaan Baptist Church where she regularly taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and served in the nursery. She leaves a legacy of Christian faith that touched her family and community. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Martha loved cooking, gardening, and supporting her grandchildren in any activity. She was preceded in death by her parents.
