Marshall Lester “Spud” Phillips, Jr. age, 91, of Glencoe, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 01, 2022 at 11:00am
at Collier-Butler Chapel. Rev. David Bankson will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.

Spud was a lifelong resident of Etowah County, Alabama. He was a 1951 graduate of Glencoe High School and served with the United States Army in the 101 Airborne. Spud retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 34 years of employment. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Marshall Lester Phillips, Sr. and Runette Beggs Phillips;
sister, Annette Barnett; brother, Charles Ray Phillips; and son-in-law, Tommy Jones.
Spud is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Frances Moon Phillips; daughter, Tammy Jones; grandchildren, Jason Jones, Jennifer (Dale) Owens; great grandchildren, Christian (Nicole) Summers, Paige (Scott) Owens, Austin (Josie) Owens, Adyson Owens, Crimsyn Owens, and Cayson Jones;
Great-great grandchildren include Ryder, Nova, Greyson, and Baby O.
Pallbearers will be Andy Quinn, Austin Owens, Jason Jones, Christian Summers, Justin England and Dale Owens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Carl Green, Mike Condit and Larry Hines.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research
or Cove Creek Baptist Church Children’s Ministry.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday at the funeral home at 10:00am prior to the service.
