MarshallMarshall James “Jim” Grigsby, 86, of Killen, AL, passed away August 8, 2016. Mr. Grigsby was a retired painter for TVA, a member of Painters Local #1293, and a member of Lone Cedar Church of Christ. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War where he served as a Corporal in the 40th Auxiliary Infantry. Mr. Grigsby was a member of Korean War Veterans Association and also the Alabama Cattlemen Association Jim was a hunter, farmer, and outdoorsman. He loved giving to others, reading his Bible and his church family and had a very special love for his wife Velma. Our loving father left us memories of him as an animal lover and a music lover, noting that he was a singer in his younger years for the Lauderdale County Playboys, who enjoyed radio play in the Shoals.

 

Mr. Grigsby is survived by:

 

Wife: Velma Elizabeth Graham Grigsby

Sons: Kevin Grigsby (Lisa) &

Jeff Grigsby (Sandra)

Daughter: Debra Neal (Jackie)

Sisters: Bertha Billingsley

(7) Grandchildren and (8) great-grandchildren

 

He was preceded in death by parents Morris Hannable Grigsby and Virginia Billingsley Grigsby; brothers Raymond, Louis, Edward, Harry,  and Aldon Grigsby; and sisters Effie Fowler and Nellie Lovelace.

 

Visitation will be Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 5-8:00 P.M. at Lone Cedar Church of Christ. The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Tim Grigsby & Jack Flowers officiating. Burial will be in Lone Cedar Cemetery with full military honors.

 

Pallbearers will be Hunter Grigsby, Garrett Grigsby, Isaac Grigsby, Kevin Grigsby, Michael Billingsley, and Todd Grigsby. Honorary pallbearers will be Marshall Neal, Pete Clemons, Charles Cabler, Hermon Graham, Joseph Holt, Terrell Carden, Lucas Richardson, James McElhaney, Carson McElhaney, and Josh Cooper.

 

The family would like to thank Dr. Mitchell, Dr. Heaton, and Dr. Morris for all their years of care for our father.
