Marsha Ann Wilson Oliver Marsha Wilson Oliver, aged 71, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024, at her home with her sister Becky by her side.  She was born on November 25, 1952, in Phil Campbell, to Noble Leon Wilson and Ila Ann Motes.

Marsha was a resident of Phil Campbell for most of her life.  She was a 1971 graduate of Phil Campbell High School, a 1986 graduate of Northwest Shoals Community College and a 1988 graduate of the University of North Alabama. She worked at Northwest following graduation until her retirement as eCommerce Center Director in 2011.

Marsha loved reading, especially horror and sci-fi.  She believed deeply in the value of education, which she passed on to her two sons.

Marsha will be remembered for being keenly intelligent, direct, and having an indomitable will.  Her straightforward demeanor belied her incredibly kind heart and her love for her family (both biological and at Northwest) and for the people of Phil Campbell and the surrounding communities.

Marsha is survived by two sons, Jay Oliver and Cody Oliver, two granddaughters, Abigail Oliver and Lucy Messer, a sister, Rebecca Wilson, two brothers, Keith Wilson and Kenney Wilson, a sister in law, Judy Wilson, and one daughter-in-law, Jo.

Special thanks to Ampawan Khongmar, who provided exceptional live-in care for Marsha in two separate instances, to Teresa Leeth, Wanda McCalpin, and Trina Malone, who cared for her over the last several weeks, and to Jessica McCray and Brittni Moody, the home hospice nurses who were so kind and helpful.

Public visitation will be held at Spry Funeral Home from noon-2pm on Friday April 12, with a private family service following thereafter.

“There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me.” —Jane Austen.
