Mark Douglas Hagood, aged 36, of Athens, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025, at Hospice Family Care. Born on November 6th, 1989, in Decatur, Alabama, Mark was the son of Richard Hagood and Celisa Diane Hardy Hagood.
Mark leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Adaline Hagood, and his son, Jameson Douglas Hagood. He is also survived by his father, Richard Hagood, and his brother, Alan Hagood. His grandparents, Pete and Betty Wales, along with his aunt, Joanna Madry, cherish his memory. Mark’s circle of special friends includes Gypsey Steffens, Jay Vandenberg, Gaston Cole, and Kelsey Cole. He was blessed with many, many, many friends all around the world.
Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Celisa Hardy Hagood, and his grandparents, Doug Hardy, Richard Hagood, and Nancy Hagood. He is also predeceased by his uncle, Steve Madry.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Saturday, December 13th, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Jacob Hardy and Scott Patterson. Mark will be lovingly carried to his final resting place at Gatlin Cemetery by pallbearers Kevin Kimbrough, Jesie Bowen, David Rogensack, Scott Patterson, Roman Denty, and Chris Hensley. Christy Elmore, Carl Billions, and Justin Rodgers, as well as all members of the 214th MP, Alexander City, AL., will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mark was known for his unique and kind spirit. As a devoted father, son, and brother, he brought joy to those around him with his infectious laughter and love for life. Mark was passionate about playing Dungeons and Dragons and cherished the friendships he formed through this hobby. His absence will be deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Mark Douglas Hagood’s legacy of kindness and joy will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
