Mr. Mark “Bubba” King was born Oct. 29, 1961, to the late Mr. Richard King and Ms. Nellie Ruth Jordan. Mark accepted Christ at an early age and joined Greater St. Paul AME Church in Florence, Alabama. Mark graduated from Bradshaw High School in Florence. Mark worked at several places in the Florence area including Shoney’s, ECM Hospital, and his last employment was at Wal-Mart of Florence, Alabama.
Mark departed this life on Aug. 12, 2016. He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, James King.
His memories will be cherished by three brothers, the Rev. Earnest Smith Sr. (Claudia), of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Mr. Elijah Smith, Florence, Alabama, and Mr. Eddie King, Hiram, Georgia; six sisters, Mrs. Dora Asher (Robert, deceased), Florence, Alabama, Mrs. Kathy Russell (Robert), Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Ms. Evelyn King, Florence, Alabama, Mrs. Cassandra Patterson (David), Mrs. Aretha Evans (Ray), and Shelia Woods (Carlos), all of Florence, Alabama; two aunts, Ms. Johnnie Jordan, Killen, Alabama, and Virginia Sanders, Muscle Shoals, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; two special friends, Mrs. Debra Reeder and Mr. Doc Malone Jr.; and godson, Montz Reeder.
Funeral services for Mr. Mark King will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at
1 p.m. at Greater St. Paul AME Church, Florence, Alabama, with the Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Florence, Alabama, with Thompson and Son Funeral Home of Florence, Alabama directing.
