Marjorie Vanessa Duncan, age 65, of Cherokee, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Vanessa had worked for years as a RN with the corrections facilities and later became a home health sitter. She lived and worked in North Carolina until she moved back here to live with her sister, Geraldine. She loved being outdoors, sitting on the porch watching the river, and spending time with her family. She loved to travel by herself, was always ready for another trip, and she enjoyed learning about her Indian heritage in Cherokee, NC. One of her most favorite outings was going to thrift stores and finding the best of bargains.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her siblings, Emeline Howard, Christine Grisham, Glynn Duncan, Geraldine Childers, Wanda Coats; special nieces, Crystal Coan, Twila Graham, Kimberly Stuart, Dawn Rogers, Ashleigh Gilliland as well as a host of other special nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Webster & Erin Pauline (Bragwell) Duncan; grandparents; sister, Bettye Duncan; and nephews, Michael Childers and Daniel Little.
The service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 01, 2025, at Franklin Memory Gardens Mausoleum where she will be entombed. Bro. Rod Stansky will officiate the service.
