Marjorie Smith Jones, age 86 of Cottontown passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025 at her home. She was born June 11, 1939 in Nashville, TN to Roy Wesley & Flossie Jewell Gilley Smith. She worked preparing taxes for H&R Block until her retirement. Marjorie enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, playing board games and cards with her family, taking trips, especially with her sisters and she was a beautiful seamstress. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where she had served as their pianist and the treasurer for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank Jones; brother, Buford Wayne Smith; sister, Freda Estes and Louise Oxendine. She is survived by her sons, David (Teresa) Jones, Fayetteville, TN and Dennis (Lil) Jones, Crestview, FL; daughter, Karen (Kenneth) Matthews, Cottontown, TN; sisters, Verda Sanders, Lacey, WA and Christine (Jerry) Needham, Mesa, AZ; 8 grandchildren, Ashley Jones, Leigh Anne Jones, Wesley Matthews, Micah Schlosser, Joshua Matthews, Tyler (Emily) Jones, Andy Jones and Chris Jones; 2 great-grandchildren, Emma and Liam. Funeral service is scheduled for Monday, September 15, 2025 at 1pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Ray Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery with grandsons and a nephew serving as pallbearers. Visitation is planned for Sunday, September 14, 2025 4-8PM and Monday, September 15, 2025 9AM-1PM at the funeral home.
