Marjorie "Margie" Atkins WhittThe funeral for Marjorie (Margie) Atkins Whitt, 88, of Athens, will be Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. John Taggart officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., prior to the service, and burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.

Mrs. Whitt, who died Monday, April 29, 2024, at Limestone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, was born August 26, 1935, in Somerville, Alabama to Emma and Odie Atkins. Mrs. Whitt was a faithful Christian and founding member of Athens Church of God. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Bobby Carl Atkins, Hollan Atkins, and Ralph Atkins; husband for more than 58 years, Marvin Lester Whitt; and granddaughter, Whitney Wellden.

Margie is survived by her daughters Linda (Andy) Wellden, Debbie (Pete) Collins, Connie (David) Landers, and Cathy Brett; grandchildren Callie Hinkle, Lindsay Parker, Evan Wellden, Carson Landers, Brock Brett, and Courtney Wales; great-grandchildren Collin and Whitt Gooch, Parker Hinkle, Eva and Finley Parker, and Ada and Bennett Landers; and siblings Macle Thornton, Johnny Atkins, Sue Breeding, and Patsy Carter.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of the Valley for their loving care and would also like to express their gratitude to a special caregiver, Abby Curry.
