Marjorie Ann (Olson) Holst, a longtime resident of Florence, Alabama, peacefully departed on July 16, 2016, in Traverse City, Michigan.
Marj was born on Nov. 27, 1922, in Ludington, Michigan where she spent her childhood. She attended the University of Michigan School of Nursing graduating with an RN degree. Marjorie was married to Henry V. Holst for 67 years, and they had three sons, Peter Henry Holst (Cathy). Bradley Alan Holst (Cheryl), and Richard Eric Holst (Melissa). Henry and Marj had two grandsons, David Eric Holst (Kate) and Douglas Alan Holst (Lauren) whom they adored.
Prior to taking up residence for 38 years in Florence, Alabama, the Holsts resided in Southfield, Michigan and the Detroit area for 25 years.
Hank and Marj were longtime members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Florence. Also, they were active members of the Florence Elks Lodge and the University of Michigan Nurses Alumni. Marj loved to play bridge and found pleasure in her orchid greenhouse and bird watching.
Her burial will take place at the Portland, Michigan City Cemetery at a later date. Those who wish to remember Marjorie with a memorial are asked to consider Our Reedemer Lutheran Church in Florence, Alabama.
