Marion “Scott” Jones, 57, of Somerville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025.
Born on August 17, 1968, in Huntsville, Alabama, Scott was the son of James Marion Jones and Gerladine [Jones] Dillard.
He began his career with PDM-Hycon constructing composite elevated tanks as a concrete foreman. Later he became the manager at the Point Mallard Campground (City of Decatur) in 2002 and was planning to retire in 2027.
Scott was married to Philomena [Jones] Compton for many years, and though they later went their separate ways, they remained united in their love and support for their children. He is survived by his two children Perrin Denver Jones of Atlanta, Georgia and Scarlett Blythe Jones of Huntsville, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father James “Marion” Jones and his brother, Bradley Dwight Jones. He is survived by his sister, Jennifer Grace [Cagle] Ensley and his mother Geraldine [Jones] Dillard.
Outside of work, Scott was a woodworker, and an avid Alabama fan. He enjoyed coaching softball, playing pool, and the outdoors at his home in Somerville, Alabama. His kind personality was known by the people he helped and his willingness to listen.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle, Alabama. Friends may visit with the family thirty minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of choice.
Scott will be deeply missed by family and friends.
