The funeral for Marion Frances Jacobs Cross, 82, of Moulton, will be today at 2 p.m. at Moulton Church of Christ. Visitation will be held at noon in the church prior to the service. O.D. Bowling is officiating. Lawrence Funeral Home is providing arrangements.
Marion Cross, who died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Lawrence Medical Center, was born June 13, 1931, in Moulton to John Robert and Lillie Mae Jacobs and grew up in Lawrence County, Ala.
Mrs. Cross was a devoted Christian and was an active member of Moulton Church of Christ. She was beloved by family and friends and well known for her cooking, sewing, love of her family, and her playful spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henley Jacobs; sisters, Anna Rose Jacobs McCulloch, Louise Jacobs Adair, Audrey Jacobs Montgomery, and Jonnie Jacobs Bain.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James D. Cross; son, Keith Cross (Sandra), of Decatur; daughter, Deborah Cross Barrett (Perry), of Moulton; grandchildren, Melanie Cross Gowen (Blake), Brad Howard (Yvonne), Summer Cross, Monica Barrett Kerby (Greg), and Eric Barrett. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Mitchell Gowen, Reagan Gowen, Evan Cross, Zack Kerby, and Hensleigh Howard. She will be missed dearly by her family, but heaven is rejoicing with their new angel. She has a host of nieces and nephews that think of her as their mother and will mourn their loss, but cherish the memories.
Pallbearers will be Larry Jacobs, Randy Jacobs, Blake Mitchell, Lee Brewer, John Cross, David Cross, Monty Cross, and Leonard Pearson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Marion Cross to Moulton Church of Christ, 597 Main St., Moulton, AL.
