WINFIELD – Taylor Ryan Bloodgood, 25, Winfield, was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 18, and charged with five counts of possession of child pornography and one count each of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12 and enticing a child for immoral purposes.

According to Lt. Rusty Hulsey, who led the investigation, the alleged victim, a 5-year-old female, notified her grandparents that Bloodgood, her neighbor in the apartment complex where she lives, had inappropriately touched her.

An offense report was filed about the incident, sparking the investigation. Hulsey said that on Sept. 6, the Child Advocacy Center of Walker County conducted a forensic interview with the young child.

According to Hulsey, the child’s allegations led to Hulsey being able to secure a search warrant for Bloodgood’s electronics, which was executed on Sunday, Sept. 9.

“We obtained three computers, a phone, an XBOX and a PlayStation, along with a handgun,” said Hulsey.

Hulsey, who is certified in computer evidence recovery, was able to extract data from all of Bloodgood’s computers and the evidence led to the child pornography charges.

“The images appeared to be downloaded and not of any local girls or of the victim,” said Hulsey.

Bloodgood was arrested at his apartment without incident and is currently being held at the Marion County Jail on a bond of $250,000.

Bloodgood had been a correctional officer at the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office in Columbus, Miss. An officer informed a Journal Record reporter that Bloodgood’s employment had been terminated.

(When a defendant is charged with a crime, the charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.)
