Marion “Calvin” Carter, 82 of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Carter was born on August 11th, 1941, in Athens, to Carl Rich Carter and Laura Bell Tarpley Carter.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife Myrtle Marie Carter; daughter Melody Nave (Brad); son Steven Carter (Michelle); 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; James Carter; and sisters Faye Carter Carlisle and Linda Sue Carter Clemons.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son Michael Carter; daughter Sabrina Carter; brothers Gene Carter, Clyde Carter, Billy Joe Carter, and Jr. Carter; and sister Pat Usery.
Funeral services for Mr. Carter will be Saturday, June 15th, 2024, at 11:00am at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Jeff Drake officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 14th, from 6:00-9:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Copeland Cemetery.
Mr. Carter was a special man who loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed woodworking and loved building things for people. He would work hard in his yard, making sure it looked good, and taking care of his chickens and bird houses. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
