Marina “Rene” Brewer McIntear, 89, of St. Joseph, TN, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 4, 1935 in Waynesboro, TN, Marina, also lovingly known as Rene and MawMaw, lived a life full of love, laughter, and limitless generosity.
Rene was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, whose greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and was the heart of family gatherings. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, and her family will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Living life to the fullest was Rene’s outlook, a lesson she passed on to all who knew her. Even in her final days, she embraced life with the same vibrant spirit that defined her: cooking meals for her family, enjoying treasured shopping trips, and sharing her lovable personality with all those she held dear.
She was a lifelong seamstress, and her skills were admired by many. Her famous meals of peanut butter cake, mayonnaise rolls, and potato candy were among her family’s favorites, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome was legendary. Her door was always open to anyone in need of a warm meal or good company.
She is survived by daughters Clara Zierer (Jim), Vicki Blalock (David), Shirley Mason, and Melba McLaughlin; brothers, Jordan Brewer and Johnnie Brewer, sisters, Jane McDow, Wanda Hendrix, and Betty Brewer; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives with the same love, strength, and enthusiasm she so effortlessly embodied. She was preceded in death by her husband, [Calvin McIntear], parents,[Willie & Velma Kelley Brewer] , daughter [Linda Fisher], granddaughter [Desha Boggan], and grandson [Stanley Blalock], son in law, [Pete Mason].
A celebration of Marina’s beautiful life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Loretto Memorial Chapel with Greg Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Nebo cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30-3:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
Her spirit will live on in the laughter of her loved ones, the stories her family will tell, and the lives she touched.
