Janice "Jan" BraggMarilyn Janice “Jan” Bragg passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at NMMC in Tupelo, Mississippi, at the age of 87.

Jan was born on February 23, 1939, in the Hurricane Community of Pontotoc, Mississippi. She married Charles “Gene” Bragg on November 27, 1955. Their marriage was a testament to devotion, spanning over 70 years.

Jan and Gene spent 25 years living in Illinois, where they welcomed their daughters, Debra and Davina. In 1980, they returned to Jan’s hometown of Hurricane, where they built their home and became much-loved members of the community.

Jan attended Hurricane High School and was a member of Hurricane Baptist Church for many years. She and Gene later became founding members of Oak Dale Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching her hummingbirds, caring for her cat, Suzy, serving her church, and creating a good home for her family.

Jan is survived by her husband, Gene; her daughters, Deb (Don Kostush) and Davina Bragg; her sisters, Pat (late John) Miles, Iva Jo (late Nicky) Bishop, and Patricia (Mike) Moore; her brothers, Ray (Nedra) Anderson and Bobby (Jane) Anderson; her niece, Tonya (Corey) Hitt; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob Bevill and Dale Bevill Anderson; her infant brothers, James Ralph and Roger O’Neal; and her grandparents, Earnest and Lura Russell and Spurgeon and Media Bevill.

Pallbearers will be Robert Bishop, Barry Daniels, Jeff Daniels, Corey Hitt, Ethan Hitt, and Jeff Warren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a service at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Dale Baptist Church, 7230 MS-346, Pontotoc, Mississippi. A private burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Sand Springs Cemetery.
