Marilyn Jane Weeks Grice, lovingly referred to by her family as “Big Mama,” was born on September 29, 1935, and passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents Louie Coleman Weeks and Lela Rushing Weeks, her beloved husband Lacy Elmore Grice, and son Richard Alan Grice.
Marilyn met and married the love of her life, Lacy, and together they built a life centered around faith, family, and hard work. After marrying, they moved to Birmingham to raise their two sons. In 1970 they came home to Jasper and founded Lacy Grice Insurance, where Marilyn faithfully worked until her retirement in 2018.
She is survived by her son, Jeffery Coleman Grice (Amy); her grandchildren, Jenny Grice Gambrell (Jody), Jeff Grice Jr. (Margaret), Emma Grice Keenum (Will), William Alan Grice, and Clayton Richard Grice (Reagan). Great grandchildren include Marilyn Leigh Grice, Ollie Elizabeth Grice, Eleanor McCall Grice, Evelyn Coats Keenum, Charles Alan Keenum, Ellis Morgan Keenum, Avery Wells Gambrell, Daniel Joseph Gambrell IV, and Mallie Elizabeth Grice. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Grice Green.
Mrs. Grice was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Jasper. She loved Alabama football, Atlanta Braves baseball, playing bridge, and trips to the beach. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Harbor Chase of Jasper and Ridgeview Health Services for the loving care and kindness shown to her.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at The Chapel on 4th (formerly First Christian Church of Jasper), services will follow at 1:00p.m. George Barrera and Jody Gambrell will officiate, Collins-Burke Funeral Home will direct.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Grice Jr., Will Grice, Clay Grice, Will Keenum, Jody Gambrell, and Daniel Gambrell.
