Marie Prestridge, 86, of Nauvoo, lovingly known to all as Lisa, joined her Lord and Savior on Sept. 14, 2016, at her residence, surrounded by her children.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at 2 p.m., at the Edgil Grove Baptist Church in Jasper. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will be in the Ashbank Cemetery. David Miller will officiate.

Those who knew Lisa knew this, she loved. She loved Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family, her friends and her church. She loved the little things and appreciated everything. As World War II survivor, she took nothing for granted and appreciated things that most don’t take the time to consider. She loved this country … one of her proudest moments was becoming a United States citizen. She loved serving others and giving. She gave of her time and talents, served as a VBS and Sunday School teacher, WMU leader, sang in the choir until she was 85 and served as the church librarian at Edgil Grove Baptist Church, a position that suited her well as she loved to read. She loved all these things and more and has left a legacy of love for those who were privileged to know her.

She was united in death with the love of her life, J.A. Prestridge; three children, Bobby Prestridge, Debbie Prestridge and Sandi Prestridge; parents, William and Minna Recher; sister, Margaret Lopez; granddaughter, Christine De LePena; and great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Hope Miller.

She is survived by her children, Linda Armstrong, Randy Prestridge (Jenean), Tom Prestridge (Karen), Kathy Harrison and Susie Lyford (Matt); brother, Walter Recher; sister, Gertrude Ruhe; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
