Marie McCrary, 86, of Scottsboro, AL, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, with her family by her side at Cumberland Health and Rehab in Bridgeport, AL.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1934, in Adamsburg, AL, to Oswald and Zora Pike. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Scottsboro, AL, for 41 years. Her interests included cooking, reading, gardening, playing piano, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted grandmother, spending many years caring for her grandchildren who were the loves of her life.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, Burlos Calvary DeHart; son, Barry Edward DeHart; and brothers, Sydney and Leman Pike.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, William “Bud” McCrary; three brothers and their spouses, David and Linda Pike, Kenneth and Penny Pike, and Johnny and Marilyn Pike; and two sisters, Mary Jo Kay and Brenda Richmond.
She had three children, Carolyn Palmer, Benny and Mary DeHart, and Valerie and David Bitondo; three stepchildren, Danny and Joy McCrary, Dennis and Debbie McCrary and Sandra Owens; 13 grandchildren, Christy Wright Boland, Adam Wright, Kelly Brown, Rebecca Satterfield, Riley Vincent, Michael McCrary, Brent McCrary, Adam McCrary, Clint McCrary, Robbie Simmons, Carrie Brinkley, Randy Owens, Scotty Owens; and 23 great-grandchildren.
The visitation will take place on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Scottsboro Funeral Home in Scottsboro, AL, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following. The burial will take place after the funeral in Rosalie, AL, at Free Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Hwy 71.
