Services for Marie Matthews Cook, 81, of Piedmont will be Friday, November 29, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Ballew and the Rev. Kenny Ballew officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m at Blue Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Alabama. Mrs. Cook passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Survivors include one daughter, Jo Ann Ballew (Tommy) of Piedmont; one son, Billy Cook (Melody) of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Thomas Ballew, Joyce Monsma, Eddie Ballew, Kenny Ballew and Chandler Cook; seven great-grandchildren, Myrandah Schutt, Derrek Monsma, Dylan Ballew, Ashley Ballew, Kailey Ballew, Tyler Ballew and Rachel Ballew and one great great-grandchild, Kyleigh Schutt. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Chandler Cook and Tyler Ballew. Mrs. Cook was a resident of Piedmont for more than 50 years and a member of Dailey Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed being outdoors and loved working in her flowers.She was preceded in death by her husband, Oneal Cook.
