Marie Mabrey – Obituary

Marie Mabrey, 91 of Union Grove, the Midway Community, died Tuesday September 19, 2017 at Marshall Manor Nursing Home in Guntersville.
Mrs. Mabrey was born May 22, 1926 in Marshall County to Archie Briscoe Black and Nora Belle Cody Black. She was a 1943 graduate of Arab High School and graduated from Jacksonville State University. She was an educator and taught school for Union Hill, Midway, Union Grove and Arab Elementary. She enjoyed reading, gardening, art work and spending time with her family. She also loved her cats.
Mrs. Mabrey was of the Baptist Faith and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Wade Neil Black and Pam, Harriett Holder and Larry, Barbara B. Elms and Tom and a host of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Dock Mabrey; her parents: Archie and Nora Black; her brother and sister: Conrad Black and Ruth Black.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday September 22, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Brother: Bryan C. Mosley, officiating and eulogy by Harriett B. Holder. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Larry Holder, Nathan Holder, Tom Elms, Thomas Elms, Paul McIntosh and Chris Black.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Friday September 22, 2017 prior to the service.
