Marie Hayes Butler, age 93, of Florence, passed away on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015. Visitation was Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel. Services will be held today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Elkins East Chapel with burial to follow at Butler Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Butler, and her son, Joseph Butler.
She is survived by three grandsons, Matthew Butler, Kenneth Butler, and Paul K. Wingard; one granddaughter, Melissa Wingard; six great-grandchildren, Matthew and Noah Butler, Calloway Lewis, and Morgan, Joseph, and Kaylan Wingard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Butler was a member of Elgin Primitive Baptist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her niece, Diane Graves, for her loving care, Glenwood and the staff for their care, and Dr. Hobbs.
