Marie Elizabeth Harrison Smith, 92, Florence, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Visitation will be Saturday, February 15, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Joshua Smith and Rod Stansky officiating. Interment will be in Greenview Memorial Park, Florence.
Marie was a graduate of Coffee High School. She was a charter member of South Highland Freewill Baptist Church, where she was the church pianist for many years. Marie retired from American Wholesale Book Company. She was preceded in death by her husband Royce O. Smith; parents, William Howard and Christine Glover Harrison; brother, Samuel Dale Harrison; and sons-in-law, J.W. Sparks and David Colyer.
Marie is survived by her sons, Lyndon Smith (Mary), Thomas Lance Smith, Sr. (Delta), and David L. Smith (Marsha); daughters, Karen Lynn Sparks and Beverly Colyer of Louisville, KY; brother, William Dwayne Harrison; sister, Carla Gayle Harrison-Hester; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff of Enhabit Hospice, especially Melissa, Julie, and the two Lauras who cared for Marie for so long.
