Marie Borden Vandiver, age 89, Ford City, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, June 28, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Her grandson, Jarrett Vandiver, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Vandiver was a retired realtor with Billy Hensley Properties and was a member of the Shoals Master Gardeners. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Vandiver; son, Gene Vandiver; brother, Ed Borden; and sister, Tommye Ann Johnson.
Mrs. Vandiver is survived by her sons, Phillip Vandiver and Greg Vandiver (Anita); daughter-in-law, Rhonda Vandiver; grandchildren, Brandon Vandiver, Jarrett Vandiver (Mattie), Maggie-Ann Olson (Taylor), and Mikayla Vandiver; and two great-grandchildren.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to a scholarship fund established in honor and memory of her son Gene, a journalism major at Auburn University.
