Obituary of Mariah Dickinson AugerMariah Dickinson Auger, age 97, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully, surrounded by her 4 daughters on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Mariah was born in Paint Rock, AL. Mariah attended school in Larkensville and Scottsboro schools, where she graduated from Jackson County High School in 1947. She married Charles Dickinson, and they moved to New York State North country. There, they raised 4 daughters. Charles passed away in 1984.

Mariah returned to her family roots, living in Scottsboro and married her second love, James Auger, who passed away in 2003. Mariah was a highly accomplished homemaker, also a licensed realtor, master gardener, and always enjoyed learning something new. She was always active in politics, her church, and community. She was passionate about history and biographies, gardening and flower arranging, and red cardinals, and of course family. Mariah was predeceased by siblings Ray Sloan and Fern Gamble.

She leaves behind siblings Jim Sloan, Melba Sloan, and Merbil Reeves, 4 daughters Mary Child, (Doug Child), Martha Dickinson, Jane Komarow, (Michael Komarow), Anne Harris, (Phil Harris), 5 grandchildren, Mathew Child, Wendy Child, Ryan Turner, Hannah Harris, and David Harris, 6 great grandchildren, Corbin O’Roarke, Aiden Child, Jasmine Child, Gates Turner, Alden Turner, and Charlie Speed Turner.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, Mariah would have loved donations made to local Botanical Gardens, or to plant a tree in her memory.
