maria--dempsey-obituaryMaria (Allyson) Dempsey, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 28, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Dempsey was preceded in death by her daughter Bernie; and sons, Frederick and Edward.

Mrs. Dempsey is survived by her daughters, Gabrielle (Peggy) Dempsey and Millie Dempsey; her son David Dempsey and his spouse Mark James.

Her husband of 24 years, Jack Dempsey, founded the UAH Art Department in 1965. (Allyson) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and grew up in Europe until 1939 when she moved to the U.S. She is a graduate of Abbott Academy in Andover, Mass. and Barnard College in New York City. Her most recent employment was for 16 years as a beloved social worker for the Madison County DHR.

Her many friends are invited to remember her at The Lodge at Monte Santo State Park on Saturday May 31st at 11 am.
